John C. Eastlack, III is an associate in Lauletta Birnbaum’s litigation department. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York.

Eastlack has a knack for litigation: he’s worked under two judges, for two firms, and for the Legal Aid Society’s Special Litigation Unit in Manhattan. He clerked for the Honorable Michael J. Kassel of the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil Division, where he wrote bench memoranda on a variety of issues including contract, medical malpractice, employment, property, landlord/tenant, and personal injury. Additionally, John had the opportunity to serve as a judicial intern for the Honorable Lee A. Solomon of the New Jersey Supreme Court where he wrote recommendations to Justice Solomon on petitions for certification. As a former clerk, John has a keen insight into how judges think and uses that knowledge to persuasively advance his clients’ best arguments.

In addition to his experience in court, John worked as a summer associate for Lauletta Birnbaum where he practiced litigation and general corporate law. Before that, he worked for Weir & Partners LLP where he assisted the first and second-chair in successfully obtaining a defense verdict in an employment matter.

In law school, John was an editor of the New York Law School Law Review, a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council, and a member of the John Marshall Harlan Scholar’s program. During his final semester, he was placed in the Pro Bono Scholars Program, an innovative program created by the New York State Court of Appeals. As a Pro Bono Scholar, John joined their Special Litigation Unit and served indigent clients while advancing his legal career.
