John C. Eastlack III has experience handling a wide range of disputes that arise in the business context, including breach of contract cases, partnership and joint venture disputes, business torts, breach of fiduciary duty allegations, shareholder issues, commercial-lease disputes, and construction matters.
As a lawyer in Lauletta Birnbaum’s Litigation Department, John has presented oral arguments, drafted many briefs on a variety of legal topics, and resolved cases in arbitration. As a former New Jersey Superior Court clerk and New Jersey Supreme Court judicial intern, John has a keen insight into how judges think, and he uses that knowledge to persuasively advance his clients’ best positions.
Prior Experience
John previously served as a law clerk to Judge Michael J. Kassel of the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil Division. In addition, he served as a judicial intern to Justice Lee A. Solomon of the New Jersey Supreme Court.
In law school, he was an editor of the New York Law School Law Review, a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council, and a member of the John Marshall Harlan Scholar’s program. During his final semester, he was placed in the Pro Bono Scholars Program, an innovative program created by the New York State Court of Appeals, where he joined the Legal Aid Society’s Special Litigation Unit in Manhattan. In that role, he had the opportunity to serve Legal Aid’s public defense clients and address legal issues affecting their rights, from police misconduct to the rights of the incarcerated, and from bail reform to parole reform.
