What started out as an organic process of helping our clients with one practice area after another, has grown to a fully operational Outside General Counsel Model, helping our middle-market clients reduce their legal budget and increase revenue without compromising quality or responsiveness.
Our Mission
Cost Reduction
We help reduce the total cost of legal services across the entire organization by creating repeatable processes for use within the organization and by the firm. Instead of the traditional approach, where an organization uses a multi-faceted in-house legal department or relies heavily on large outside law firms, we “unbundle” and help better manage the necessary legal functions within an organization. Many of our clients have an in-house general counsel, but they are not interested in operating a full legal department (which is essentially a law firm within the organization).
With our model, we work with the client’s internal staff (and general counsel if they have one) as well as the client’s potentially valuable relationship with a larger outside law firm to ensure that the appropriate resources are handling the various legal department needs – this decision may depend on the level of difficulty, required level of experience, availability, and cost. Our model also places a priority on planning ahead with the goal of eliminating costly litigation.
Responsiveness
We provide highly responsive, on-demand access to our clients as if we were down the hall. We also have the ability to expand and contract based on client needs. With a team approach, our clients have access to multiple areas of expertise but only when and if needed.
Revenue Production
We contribute to the sales and revenue-producing aspects of our client’s organizations by assisting our clients in developing go-to-market business terms, revenue models, and intellectual property strategies; providing sales and product development support, assistance in negotiation strategy, and direct customer negotiations; and expediting the sales process and closing deals faster by developing streamlined forms, having a deep understanding of the client’s business and products, and developing clear, management approved guidelines. These steps provide acceptable negotiation parameters and terms so that the negotiation team can make decisions “on the fly.”
Risk Management
We offer risk-exposure analysis and recommend strategies to help reduce the overall cost of risk. We offer the following services, with the help of a third-party risk analyst or insurance expert when needed: operational and contractual risk-exposure analysis; insurance coverage audit based on those exposures; claims and loss prevention analysis; data and cybersecurity risk management and strategies; and risk-financing options from traditional insurance to captive insurance companies.
